What does R do for a living?

I often get asked this, and so does R – he normally replies in a non-committal way that gives away nothing about his profession.  I often get asked what he does for a living because despite the fact that he works very hard at his job and puts in a lot of long hours, it seems as though he is never at work.  Let’s take this year for example, at the beginning of February R took a couple of days off work and went to Mt. Tremblant skiing with some buddies, this was done over a weekend so he was gone for 5 days.  Then just a couple of weeks ago (that’s right, a week and bit after he got back from skiing) R went on a road trip down to Jennings, Florida to ride his bike.  They have a motorcycle only track there that he went to with a bunch of people he met over the summer at various track events.  He was gone for 6 days for that trip.  Then this past Friday he wasn’t at work because he was attending a men’s ski day (apparently work related).  All this time he has also frequently worked from home as his office is currently under construction.  The first weekend in April he is also going to be away in Denver with another group of guys – he will be skiing again, and again it is over a weekend but he is taking 3 days off work to go.

Two weeks ago my friend JM (LM’s hubby) called me, he heard about my accident and wanted to make sure I was ok.  He asked about R, and wanted to know if we were going to be around on the weekend.  When I informed him that R was away AGAIN, he declared ‘Wow, I sure picked the wrong friend.  Here I am stuck at home with 2 kids, no boys trips, and a sick wife, and he is away on his Ducati Brokecati on yet another boys trip, while his wife works to pay for this shite!’

Here is a picture of R on the track.  Does it really matter what he does for a living, he is just out there living – and loving every minute of it.
